German conductor Michael Balke is a regular guest at opera and concert houses throughout Europe, Japan, Korea, and the USA. Recent engagements have led him to Semperoper Dresden, Vienna, Verona, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He is currently Principal Guest Conductor at Munich’s Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, and held previously principal conductor positions at St.Gallen Theater in Switzerland, and at the Magdeburg Opera. In 2020, he was nominated as “Conductor of the year” and “Most promising artist of the year” by the Opus Klassik Award.
