This summer, soloists from a total of nine different countries will grace the stage at Opera på Skäret, all facing a challenging task ahead. Norma, an opera rooted in the Italian bel canto tradition, is a work that demands both lyrical finesse and dramatic power.
The soprano Alina Tkachuk from Ukraine, who last year was very successful in the role of Gilda in Rigoletto returns to Opera på Skäret. This year, she will be singing the lead role of Norma. The role is shared between Alina and Serbian soprano Sonja Šarić. Pollione is portrayed by tenor Vitaliy Kovalchuk, also from Ukraine, and Thai tenor Nutthaporn Thammathi. The role of Adalgisa is sung by German mezzo-soprano Anna Werle and Colombian Andrea Niño. The Finnish bass Petri Lindroos sings the role of Oroveso, as does American bass-baritone Tyler Putnam, whom many will recognize from last year when he took on the roles of Sparafucile and the Count of Monterone in Rigoletto last year. Last but not least, Swedish Mathilda Bryngelsson sings the role of Clotilde.
